Hi David,

I don't qualify for the ESP, but I think those that have predicted a large portion of the population will merely pay off their existing debt and not spend it are a little naive.  I agree that a large percentage of the population will pay down or pay off existing installment or credit card debt, but they will charge up the credit card fairly quickly, too, and thereby spend the ESP.  It will have an impact on the economy; it always does.

Hi Bill. Thanks for commenting. United States Savings Bonds are a great way to invest the Economic Stimulus Payment. Hope many will do just that.

David, I think that I will fill the gas tanks on our three cars, three lawnmowers, two weedeaters, one leaf blower, one chain saw and add what money I need to get away from the gas station.

I thought there would only be enough money for gas for the weed eater, Don, based on the maximum allowable amount of the payment per individual or mariied couple. :-)
