David Saks -- I had no idea this even existed until I read your post. That's just the greatest thing about AR--something new to learn every day!

Posted by Nina Hollander, Your Charlotte/Ballantyne/Waxhaw/Fort Mill Realtor (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage ) almost 5 years ago

Thanks, David.  It always amazes me that this can still occur, but we are human and it happens.  Hopefully, this post will help someone identify fraud earlier.

Thank you again David for your report....as Jennifer says, it is a great way to be aware

It's the type of post that one could like but doesn't like, Nina Hollander

Lot's of bad guys in the real estate business. Here's some more unsettling stuff about the real estate business if you click the red button:

Thanks, Jennifer Shenbaum Mortgage fraud is the most egregious aspect of the real estate business in addition to many other types of fraudulent misrepresentations which are usually connected to mortgage fraud in some dirty manner.

Thanks Kristin Johnston, Waukesha Realtor 414-254-6647 but all the praise belongs to Rachel.

David -- we've seen our share of this fraud with agents in NC, as well. It's unfortunate and they impact all of our reputations.

Posted by Nina Hollander, Your Charlotte/Ballantyne/Waxhaw/Fort Mill Realtor (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage ) almost 5 years ago

They don't impact my reputation, Nina Hollander Everyone knows that I'm ecstatic everytime a filthy real estate swindler gets nabbed, prosecuted and jailed by the feds.

What that insidious chain of events does, even if it takes twenty years to nab a real estate fraudster, is take another morally degraded realtor, appraiser, loan officer, home inspector or closing attorney off of the street and improves the reputation, safety and integrity of the industry at-large. There are thousands of criminals in the real estate business. Just like the medical profession.

Posted by David Saks ((retired)) almost 5 years ago

I'm with you, David, that these people need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Posted by Nina Hollander, Your Charlotte/Ballantyne/Waxhaw/Fort Mill Realtor (Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage ) almost 5 years ago

Yes they do, Nina Hollander Prosecution improves the reputation of the business when the bad guys, motivated by greed and desperation, are put away and can't hurt anybody any more. Before I'd allow anyone to engage in commerce that involves the disposition of tens of thousands or millions of dollars I'd want to know something about their integrity and would encourage any seller to investigate the background of any brokerage or listing agent they consider for representation, sale and disposition of their property. I'd expect the same for buyer's agency. Thanks.
