Hi David, I got a trombone serenade and it made me think of my trombone playing son in the US Navy Band. I also saw you at work. Have a great day today.

Thanks, Debbie. I played the trombone in jazz, marching, concert, and ROTC bands, and the piano, too. Nice to hear from you.

I bought the "21 Trombones" album in 1968, Noah. I was 16. I'd never heard anything like it before. The music was schmaltzy, but it was the intonation of the horns that was amazing. I played trombone in junior and senior high school, and two years in college. My high school band director urged me to buy it. I was studying music theory and trombone privately with Jack Hale, Sam Vinson and Jackie Thomas at the time. Jack was also a member of the Memphis Horns. They backed up the Doobie Brothers, Elvis and dozens of other bands and singers throughout the 60's and 70's. Jackie Thomas was a band director, session man at Stax and other recording studios and played with the symphony. Jackie's also a personal friend of Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy. They served in the Army together in the early 1950's.

David I have always loved the Memphis Horns. Wayne and Andrew were the best. They backed and made so many good tunes.

Thanks for the great info

With "21 Trombones" I expected some wild loud music but this was beautiful and soulful-thank you for sharing.

Nice, relaxing sound, Michelle. Peaceful, yet ambient and a tension reliever. My kind of music. Good to hear from you.
