What is Success ?

                                              madness

What could be better than watching the economy of nearly every country collapse as we speak ?

I'll tell you what !

It's here in the beautiful, middle-class, luxury and comfort of the High Point Coffee Shop on Union Avenue in mid-town Memphis near the University of Tennessee with students, faculty and friends from all over the world, just sitting here enjoying iced cupcakes and lattes, listening to Count Basie and the Beatles, working on their mid-terms, chatting about the sunshine and the blue skies, changing babies diapers, sitting on the patio with their schnauzers, surfing the web for this and that and baring naked toes under the tables, starry eyed about the coming spring weather.

earth

Kites and dogs with frisbees, banana splits and snow cones, the art students with their brushes and their canvases on the lawns, picnic blankets under the oak trees, Sid waxing his muscle car, Suzy running a couple of laps around the campus, Mom having her nails done, Grandma baking a strudel, Leave It to Beaver on the tv, pitching and catching the football or the baseball with your grandson, playing the piano for your pals, studying the Torah at your synagogue, the Koran at your Mosque and the disciples of Christ at your church, listening to the high school band rehearsal for the spring concert, taking in a couple of hours of flight time in your Cessna, biking through the forest, walking around the block in your neighborhood, waving to your friends, kissing your children, your wife or sweetheart, visiting the children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and thanking God for the beautiful day that He's made.

We're teachers, doctors, lawyers, bricklayers, pastors, rabbis, students, sons, daughters, mothers and fathers, builders and architects, politicians, policemen, musicians, artists, and Realtors©.

We can't ignore the problems causing millions of our friends and neighbors to suffer horrifically, catastrophically.

We'll find answers together and make the world a better place to live.

I thank the Creator for allowing me to live in the greatest place in the known universe...here on Earth with you !

There's someone out there that's bigger than you and me and He loves us.

Success is waking up and getting out of bed each morning.

Financing the National Debt : More Trouble

                                  debt

What happens when fiscal policy begins to determine the course of the natural state of the nations economy ?

Our federal fiscal policy is overseen by both the legislative and executive branches of the United States government.

What happens when the federal government spends more money than it expects to receive in the same year ?toilet paper

A big, nasty deficit, more shortage, more shortfall of economic resource and liquidity falls and slams head of the nation.

So, what does the government decide to do when this kind of thing happens ?

The government starts to sell interest bearing securities to investors who fall for the bait.

And what might the hook be baited with you may ask, for goodness sakes ?

Why it's none other than 500 billion dollars of Federal Rerserve Bank acquired mortgage backed securities from (you guessed again) Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, resources that once belonged to private investors.

So what does this mean ?

It means that now private investors are once again lending money to the government to to cover the governments huge, failed spending catastrophe.

Will this have an effect on interest rates in the future ?

Yes ! They could increase.

Why ?

The government is borrowing, extracting, removing, withdrawing, absconding and making off with huge amounts of dough that rob the money markets and will in turn increase demand for funds for every aspect of commerce known to mankind.

Hang on to your hat !

That's about the only thing many will have left in a few days.
